After 20 years working in over 45 countries managing large projects in industry and sustainable development, Nadene Canning created a boutique consultancy designing learning strategies to accelerate innovation, performance and impact. At the same time, her passion project in Switzerland involved shining a light on the lack of equity, diversity and inclusion in the Swiss workplace. Her research findings were supported by the Swiss Federal Government and she created a social enterprise which provided the tools, training and coaching services to a broad ecosystem of stakeholders. In 2012 she wrote La force le l’Équilibre Vie familiale, vie professionnelle outlining the latest thinking, beliefs and norms around the topic as well as the opportunities and challenges to creating sustainable change. This book kick started her path as an educator and leadership advisor.
Not believing that leadership can be “taught” in a classroom, Nadene designed and iterated over seven semesters a “Leadership & Management Skills” experiential learning curriculum, which led to the design and facilitation of “Leading Change” modules in Advanced Sustainable Business at St. Gallen Institute for the Economy and the Environment.
In 2019 she accepted a 12-month challenge and joined the edtech start up EDACY as VP of Education and Learning. Here she headed the design and realization of two blended online learning programs as well as spearheading a Digital Champions initiative for the Institute of Capacity Development Diwan of Royal Court, Oman. At the same time, she was accepted into the Dare to Lead™ facilitation program and was trained by Dr. Brené Brown in San Antonio, Texas.
Today her areas of expertise include: leadership, strategy, team development and performance, diversity, inclusion and the future of work. She is motivated, fierce and excited about helping people and teams align competence, behavior and purpose to maximize performance. Currently she teaches Negotiation Techniques within the Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship Master’s program at the EPFL.
Nadene is a dual national Canadian-Swiss citizen, based in Switzerland, born and raised in Montreal, she spends a fair amount of time flying over the Atlantic.
